History of AIDS

Based on our discussion in class, what do you think we can learn from the history of AIDS? What do you think the quote, "Knowing where you have been helps you choose the right path to where you want to go," means?

  1. I think that it means once you make a mistake it will help you learn from what you have done, & then not repeat it. What we can learn from the history of AIDS is that one little thing started it so imagine what can start in the future.

  2. Everyone could take something different out from the discusion we had in class.Something that i learned from the discussion was that when the aids virus was first a big ordeal president reagan kept it a secret for many years ! I think we learned that as a country when something might affect the well being of our people we should never keep these things a secret; i mean what would of happened if the goverment would have kept the swine flu a secret ? I think that this quote means that to know where you want to go in life you have to be able to realize the things you've done in the past because these things might be history but they'll help you grow as a person in the future.

  3. I think it means when you learn from your mistakes. And in class what i learned from the discussion was that the virus killed about 50,000 people in the 1900s.

  4. I think that this quote means that where ever you are in life helps you in the future. For example, its like saying you learn from your bad mistakes which then lead you on to the good ones. Also, in class from the discussion I learned that the HIV virus is transmitted through unprotected sex, dirty needles, and/or breast feeding.

  5. Well I believe this was very dangerous when we never ever knew about AIDS until we learned the hard way. Up to this day, more and more people die. People get Aids by having unprotected sex, breast feeding, sweat, and many things. We now need a cure. For those people who are not listening, now it's the time to choose. Keep doing bad things and get the virus, or become a people's person, good and no more bad deeds. Please we need to protect this planet and our people. -Hector Cabrera

  6. I think the quote "Knowing where you have been helps you choose the right path to where you want to go" means it is important to make good decisions. Learn from your mistake and others mistakes. Know the past and recognize some of the things that have negatively affected our society and know what situations you shouldn't get yourself into. The history of AIDS teaches us a lot about how diseases come about. It teaches us to question whether or not the government tells us important things and they keep stuff from us. It also teaches us not to believe everything you hear especially if it isn't scientifically proven because if you say what you hear it might just make you sound ignorant and completely wrong.- Yamilet

  7. I think the qoute ''Knowing where you have been helps you choose the right path to where you want to go''means that you have to no about yourself in oder to accomplish something big.I think this quote is just to learn from your mistakes and try for it to not affect you in the long run.I have learn alot about the history of HIV/AIDS, for a case in point, hiv aids is not really known for its virus scientist tend to just balive taht it came from a south african mokey who had spread it it to a person. Also that you can live a happy life with medications and treatments.

  9. What i learned in the class discussion today is that AIDS has been around longer than i thought it was, and that our former president Ronald Reagan kept it secret from us for a really long time.I think that if he did not do that a lot more people would not have gotten the virus and they would not have passed it on to others. As for the quote i think it means the same thing the quote "Those who are unaware of the past are doomed to repeat it" means. Which is that maybe if you knew about the people that have gotten AIDS you would not make the same mistake they did.

  10. The quote means to me that you learn from the things that you do bad. Based on our discussion in class,I learn that 200,000 people were infected with HIV in 2007.

  11. Based on our discussion in class, I learned that no one actually knows where the virus came from, which makes me realize that in this world nothing never is actually really figured out. For example, where did humans come from? The quote "Knowing where you have been helps you choose the right path to where you want to go," something different to each person. To me it means that in order to go in the right direction in life you have to realize and know what you have done in the path. You have to learn from the mistakes you have made and make sure you do not do it again. Also not to try to forget about your past, not to leave it behind as if it had never happened because the past is what guides you in the right direction in present and future. That is what the quote means to me.

  12. What we can learn from the history of AIDS is that it statred in central Africa and that the President during that time kept the secret for four years. This quote means that if you don't know yourself you won't make the right descisons and you will repeat your old mistakes over and over again.

  13. The quote means to learn from your mistake, and that it will affect you later on , and if the mistake were to occur again , and you can avoid it then you have learned from your mistake. Based on our discussion in class,I learned that thousands and thousand of people were killed in the 1900s, and that Ronald Reagan declared the virus 4 years after he had known it had broke out.

  14. what i think the quote "Knowing where you have been helps you choose the right path to where you want to go," means to learn from your mistakes. so you repeat it again. what ive have learned in class bout aids is that is been around for a long time and most people didnt know much about it as we do now a days. Before people had different points of view for aids.

  15. Everyone learned from a different perspective with the discussion we had in class. People make mistakes, we know that but really AIDS comes and never leaves. This virus is deadly and has been around since the 1900 and killed 50,000 people if I'm correct. but people could've learned from the past and could've tried to prevent it in the future but in reality all you have to do is watch your actions and think ahead of time before you do something

  16. To me it would probably mean that once you make a mistake you have to learn from it . This relates to AIDS in many ways . One being at the wrong place , at the wrong time, and making bad decisions with a partner. Just to make this short; I'll say just once you make the mistake , you can never go back.
    - Based on our discussion in class , i've also learned that HIV/AIDS has been around since 1900 ; & that Ronald Reagan put out the virus after 4 years.

  17. Well what i think this quote is trying to say is that you have to be careful with the decisions you make in life. If you make a mistake you will always try to go back an fix it but you can't instead you learn from it and remember where you went wrong to make it better. Knowing where you went wrong will help you in life so you won't repeat the same mistake again.

  18. To mean what this quote means is that in life you have to make the right decisions. Because if you dont you would make a mistake that you would have to learn from. And once you make a mistake you can never go back to it.
