HIV and AIDS: what is it?

In class today, we read an article called "HIV and AIDS: what is it?" This article explains what HIV and AIDS are and how people can get them. You can read the article by clicking here.

In your post, please list at least five facts that you learned about HIV or AIDS (you can list more if you like) and ask any questions you have relating to HIV or AIDS.

  2. 5 Facts I learned about HIV or AIDS is
    1)42 million people live with HIV or AIDS worldwide and 3 million die every year from AIDS
    2)HIV can be transmitted by having unprotected sex. It can also be transmitted trough blood, needles and a newborn can get it from its mother.
    3)HIV when in the body affects you by infecting the CD4 cells, A.K.A lymphocyte(CD4 cells tell immune system cells to fight of any unwanted germs)
    4)If someone has HIV they may not show signs for 10 years! The only way they will know is when their HIV has progressed to AIDS.Symptoms are
    Rapid weight loss
    Heavy sweating at night
    A cough that won't go away, etc.
    5)Lastly, the medical community has medicines/drugs that will help slow the processs of multiplying HIV cells.

    1.AIDS is one of the most deadly diseases in human history.
    2.Hundreds of U.S. teens become infected with HIV each year. HIV can be transmitted from an infected person to another person through blood, semen (also known as "cum," the fluid released from the penis when a male ejaculates), vaginal fluids, and breast milk.
    3.there is estimated 42 million people living with HIV or AIDS worldwide. More than 3 million die every year from AIDS illnesses.
    4.woman/teens that are pregnant newborn baby can catch the virus from her before birth
    5.the meaning of HIV is: human immunodeficiency virus and for AIDS is: acquired immunodeficiency syndrome
    6.HIV is when you catch the virus and its like eating your cells
    7.Aids is when you have it and and it eat all your cells.
    8.You can't get HIV/AIDS from hugging, holding hands,sneezing, coughing, or sitting next to a person that has it.
    9. NO bugs or Mosquitoes carry the virus
    10.More than 20 years ago, doctors in the United States identified the first cases of AIDS in San Francisco and New York.

    6.People who have another sexually transmitted disease, such as syphilis, genital herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, or bacterial vaginosis are at greater risk for getting HIV during sex with infected partners.

    2) People who have another sextuplets transmitted disease , sharing needles to inject drugs , or have unprotected sex can be infected with HIV .

  6. 1) HIV is a disease that eats up your immune system, and if you ger sick with any sickness there is a big chance to recieve Aids.
    2) If you have unproteccted sex with someone who has the disease, share needles through drugs or tattoes, or any other type of connection that relates to these, get diagnosed with HIV.
    3) There is no cure to HIV or AIDs, but there are medications to maintain the sisease in order to have a regular life. you must take the pill everyday, and it happens to be a lot of money!
    4)HIV is one of the most fast spreading disease worldwide!
    5) Those people who have diseases, such as syphilis, genital herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, or bacterial vaginosis, are at greater risk to getting HIV.

    2. Symptons may not show for 10 years but it doesnt mean you dont have it .
    3. Men are mostly likely to get it if they have anal sex with another Male
    4.They have pills to make the virus slow down but they have no cure.
